Our Comprehensive Neuropsychological Evaluations will take approximately 5 – 6 hours to complete. One parent/guardian is required to remain in the waiting room during the testing session for children under the age of 9 to be present for all breaks. A parent/guardian is encouraged to remain in the waiting room for older children or in the local area once their child is comfortable. There will be several breaks as well as a lunch(depending on the length of the testing). Parents are encouraged to bring drinks and snacks and/or a lunch.
Our appointments are scheduled for the interview with the parent/guardian as the child begins testing. Our testing is generally completed in one day whenever possible. After the testing appointment, a second appointment is scheduled for the parent/guardian only. At that appointment, the findings of the evaluation will be reviewed and recommedations given. You will receive a copy of the report that day and a copy of the report can also be sent to your child's pediatrican or other medical professional. We do not forward reports to school officials. Once you recieve the report you are free to copy and provide it to the school department.
If the child has questions about what will be done during the evaluation, you can tell them that they will not receive any shots or other types of invasive treatments. We will be looking at how they learn and think by doing such things as drawing pictures, telling stories, talking, and solving puzzles.
